On 15th and 16th March 2014, Momoiro Clover Z held their two days concert “Momoclo Haru no Ichidaiji 2014 Kokuritsu Kyougijyo Taikai ~ NEVER ENDING ADVENTURE Yume no Mukou e ~” at the National Stadium in Tokyo. They are the first girls group who made performance at the National Stadium. In total, about 1 million fans celebrated 5 girls’ dreamy moment. Today, I deliver you the fans of Momoclo all over the world a live report!!
What does “Kokuritsu” mean for Momoclo?
“One day, the Kouhaku changed to our “Target” from our “Dream”. But, the Kokuritsu was just a DREAM, even after we achieved the Kouhaku.”
This is a comment from a member.
Momoiro Clover Z started their activity from a live performance on the road near the NHK. They have dreamed someday they would make their performance at the “NHK Kouhaku Uta Gassen” since their beginning, and at last they achieved this dream at the year-end of 2012. On the next day of their achievement (New Year’s Day of 2013), they declared in front of a lot of their fans at the National Stadium (Kokuritsu), “Someday we make our live here at the National Stadium! This is our next target!!”. At this moment, they share another dream of them with their fans.
In fact, they have dreamed their live at Kokuritsu since before. When they traveled around Japan for their first single tour with a wagon (!), they saw movies of live performance of other artists at the National Stadium many times. In 2010, they named their live at Tachikawa city (立川) as “Kokuritsugawa” (国立川), and made the staging at “Kokuritsugawa” like small version live at “Kokuritsu”.
However, when they achieved their dreamed “Kouhaku”, the demolition of the National Stadium in 2014 because of its decrepit was already decided. It is said that it takes about 5-6 years for the renewal. So, even though they declared their next dream on 1st January 2013, they might prepare themselves it would become a too long journey.
So, at the Momoiro Christmas in 2013 when they heard their next spring live will be at the National Stadium, they were so astonished. All the members believed they couldn’t achieve it before the demolition. All the members couldn’t help but cry. They expressed their gratitude their fans and staffs, and shared their joy with all the related.
Culmination of their past
Hence, the morning of 15th March 2014 was so special for everyone. I couldn’t realize that their dream is going to come true, even in the morning of the day! I headed to the National Stadium in early morning. The National Stadium is located in about the center of Tokyo, so we could see a lot of fans in 5 colored here and there in Tokyo. There are item sales, food court and entertainment area around the venue, and fans enjoy them and wait for the live. It’s one of festivals.
After the opening movie and the introduction of members, the members of Momoiro Clover Z appeared in the cute costume of “Momoiro Punch” at the Olympic cauldron. They lighted the cauldron together, and the overture started! In cheers they came down to the center stage with a tram.
First song was, as we expected from their looking, Momoiro Punch!! Momoiro Punch is their first single!! And here we all noticed A-rin was dancing. She injured her leg in January, and couldn’t dance for about two months. What a relief! She shines the best when she is dancing!
Next track was “Mirai he Susume!”. At this moment we noticed that the set list was composed of the 12 title tracks of singles they released from their debut, in the released order. Every track might remind fans of their hard but good journey. Cross-country single tours increased the number of fans of Momoclo gradually. At the center of the National Stadium, they performed their major debut track “Ikuze! Kaitou Syoujyo”. They moved to the main stage, and performed “Pinky Jones” and “Mirai Bowl” without stopping. These 5 tracks were released when they were “Momoiro Clover”, with Akari Hayami, who withdrew from the group in 2011.
With LIVE narration by Fumihiko Tachiki “Z Densetsu” started! Members are in the costume of 5-colored comical but pretty heroines. Their do-it-all-the-way attitude should have made a lot of people smile after the Earthquake in 2011. 50 thousands’ punching the air with “Roudou Sanka” was overwhelming. “Moretsu” with large back chorus was the first time since the premiere at the Momoiro Christmas 2011. They performed recent single tracks which most of fans might know. In the midst of the newest single GOUNN they disappeared from the stage, and great CG technology on the screens showed they appeared as if from nowhere and vanish without trace. After this latest single track finished, the members dressed with cool dress appeared with the announcement of the 13rd new single release “Naitemo Iindayo”. They performed this new track for the first time here.
The latter half of lives were different in two days but also enjoyable. 15th March, the first day of the 2-days live is the birthday of a member, Momoka Ariyasu. When conversation touched on this topic, in a moment all the National Stadium turned green, which was the color of Momoka, and celebrated her 19th birthday with the song of HAPPY BIRTHDAY. A lot of white balloons flying out to the sky under a ballad track at the live on 16th made us somewhat sentimental. Members got on the handcart-shaped tram, which was used at “Kokuritsugawa” live, and went around the stadium. At encore part, they performed new rap tune “Dou Dou Heiwa Sengen” which is the title tune of the movie “Idai naru Shurarabon” for the first time.
After the final track and MC, suddenly each name of the members was announced. They walked along the runway one by one. Getting on the tram, they reached the cauldron which is set at the top of the stadium. Finally, each member stated comments for the live and for the fans. Kanako Momota, the leader of Momoclo declared;
We Momoiro Clover Z don’t aim the top of idol groups, don’t aim the top of the entertainment scene. We want to be the top who makes everyone smile. This is what we pursue to get.
Past 5 years, “mean and unkind” adults have made challenges for us, and we are grown with tackling these challenges. However today, we realized that they don’t set such challenges for us anymore. We have to create our own way. When we come to get lost in dark, we will go towards the lights of you.
Over the Kouhaku, and over the Kokuristu.
Now the fans of Momoclo are increasing exponentially, and the members may be also somewhat baffled because at large scale live they always mind the “distance”. But now we realized their will and preparedness. They know what the root of “IDOL” is. The live at their dreamed National Stadium is like a “coming-of-age” ceremony for them as an idol. Backward of the main stage was somehow dressed by the full of cherry trees in full bloom.
